Convict Lake and the Milky Way

Convict Lake and the Milky Way

We pray you and your loved ones are faring well during these unpredictable times.

With the virus creeping into every corner of the Nation, Mammoth Lakes is no exception to the other worldliness the entire planet is experiencing. We are making the best of it, feeling grateful to live where we can carefully be outdoors. The front-country “entry” trails for accessing far-away places have been super crowded, making it risky passing unmasked folks on narrow trails. But we’ve managed three long trips exploring remote lake basins of the Upper Kern in Sequoia National Park and traversing the Silver Divide. These captures are a sampling. It’s been a while since we pulled off thirty days in a summer, and Margaret (now 66) finally put her foot down about the weight of my equipment ... her or the camera! My new Sony RX100 VI camera, at 10.5 oz, matched with my ancient Gitzo Mountaineer Tripod, tip the scales at a bit less than 2 lbs!

Although I still spend a good amount of time in the gallery, we have begun the
process of doing much of our business online, allowing us more time in the mountains. It’s best to text or call ahead to meet up. (760-934-5100).
