The Subway Panoramic in January

The Subway Panoramic in January

My first trip to the Subway was in 1985. I have been to the Subway four times now, things have changed in Zion since the mid-eighties. The park has become incredibly crowded, and one needs permits for all popular hikes. The Subway has become world famous over those years, so we decided to visit the Park in January. This was my first visit in the digital age, it was an exciting approach hike, just under two hours. I made some captures on the way up, and then when I was approaching the near legendary location, I took what was a minor spill! Minor, except that my Canon 5DSR hit the bottom, and even worse, my 16-35 Canon L was broken in half! A few tense moments ensued before I was able to remove the broken lens. I did have a new Canon 24-70 L along. This lens changed my way of seeing, but it led to an amazing panoramic of the Subway. Another lesson in mindfulness, all turned out fine!
