This is a new concept, a closeup of ice and the magic light near dusk, for those who follow my work. The Autumn was very dry after a huge storm in late October. Tioga Pass was cleared by CalTrans to the gate at the Pass. It seemed like an essential visit to me. My ideas of Mammoth Crest and frozen ponds did not work, but a quick turn to the east revealed amazing detail in the frozen Tioga Tarns. The light was brief in December near the winter solstice, but this is the best capture. Happy Holidays to all!
