I first visited this location way back in my memories, maybe 1985. I was amazing at the turnings of the river, but I had no idea how to photograph the location. I left discouraged. Margaret and I made a return visit in 2020. I must admit, the area was stark, and not much to look at in the afternoon, and really hot. But after learning and growing in my photography all these years, there were ideas in my soul. We retreated to our trailer, and BAKED! Later, just the sun set, all had changed. There two images here, one with a standard crop, and another with a wide pano look. I made the pano one just as the sun was setting. I love both of them. The San Juan Gooseneck Overlook is incredible, but just the right lighting conditions.
