Once again, I can't even begin to say how many times I have stopped at Minaret Vista over the years. Winter, Summer, Autumn! And afterwards, musing over the idea, that if only I "went up enough", I could get the perfect capture. I like this version. When looking at this tableau in the field, one must remember that’s it's gorgeous. But the contrast range in the image is extreme, and so what appears on your review screen will be vastly different than what your eyes see. And remember that you must first have the connection to the RIGHT side of your brain. How do I feel about this subject? How do I present this to the world? Once these ideas are aligned "upstairs", you can be like the scanner operator in the old days before digital cameras. Get all the information in your capture. It seldom looks good on the review screen, what is important is the histogram. Use camera RAW, and make sure that ALL the data fits is between the vertical lines of the graph.
