Way back in 2012, I was teaching a “Spring Warmup Workshop” here in the Eastern Sierra, and this wonderful scene at Mono Lake presented itself to our group. I admit that I had forgotten this capture for years, maybe not quite forgot, but I could never remember it’s importance in my vast collection of images. The image was made at a remote location at Mono Lake, and it is more difficult than you might imagine, to arrange to have the Full Moon rising with a good reflection in the lake. One needs a late Full Moon rising in the alpenglow dusk, along with a calm water in an appropriate foreground. I hope my students all had great results too!
