I had a bit of a slump after the amazing fall colors. I felt like I had no inspiration for my photography. I was busy making prints for my Black Friday Sale, which I enjoy a lot. Printing is an art form and a big part of my work, and I've been doing it for 45 years! Thanks to everyone who bought something, but I still needed a new challenge. Then, I was chilling in a coffee shop in Bishop, and I saw on my phone that there was a New Moon coming up! That got me thinking about this arch in the Alabama Hills that I always wanted to capture in a creative way. I had seen some photos online, but I thought I could do better. I checked my phone apps and compass, and it looked promising. I wasn't sure how the arch and the Milky Way would line up, but I decided to give it a shot! I didn't expect the Milky Way to be so bright! I used a new tripod that was only $250, and it worked great. I took several shots, but this one was the best. It's so magical and stunning! And the only light I used was my iPhone.
