This was my favorite hike at Big Bend. The views were great as you start by going up via switchbacks and then head down to the Rio Grande. It was HOT with no shade until you get close to the river. Find a shaded rock there to sit on and enjoy the view. We took an alternate route back by walking in the river. Just beware that it gets really rocky as you get back to the starting point. Big Bend was not my place, but that's only our opinion - just check it for yourself. Saint Elena is beautiful, its one of the places like Vernal Falls and the Mist Trail in Yosemite. And you can walk across the Rio Grande and be in Mexico!
