Lundy Canyon can be one of the best canyons here in the Eastern Sierra for autumn colors. After moving back to Mammoth in fall of 2003, Lundy was much more in reach than when our family lived in Bishop. The fall color season is very long here, higher elevation canyons change first, then both Lundy and Lee Vining Canyons typically change very late each season. There can be good possibilities here into early November. This waterfall is about three miles above the trailhead at the top of Lundy Canyon. It was such a beautiful day - I must make the trip back again this year. This is one of the rare instances when I still employed a split neutral density filter to balance the sunlit cliffs and the shadowy creek in the foreground. Most times with my Canon Mark II, I do not need to use these filters any more.
