Lake Ediza at dawn in one of the most beautiful spots in the Sierra, and the John Muir Trail. I have made the hike in the dark to this lake many times over the years. It is just close enough to the trailhead to be a realistic journey. On my 55th birthday the time was ripe for another trip. I felt ready with my new Canon 5D, and had a wonderful companion along. There had been early season snow for a few days, the road was open, and the snowline was high enough to permit walking along the Shadow Creek trail. We came to lake; it was absolutely calm with a perfect reflection of the Minarets. We made many wonderful images. This one was finished using five exposures stitched together later in Photoshop. It is sharper than the older 4x5 made done in 1996.
