This image was deceptively difficult photograph to obtain. This was my third attempt with my new digital Canon 5D. I went twice in 2010. I was just learning the camera, and this spot is not a simple setup. There is amazing water and mist from the river just below! And it is difficult to get the full rainbow to the right and in front the shadow of the Merced River. I made my best efforts in 2010. But many many times any given day is a practice for the next time. That was certainly true here. The winter of 2011 was even wetter. By then I had considerably more skills with the camera, the water was higher, and I had a plan for the shooting session. I am quite happy with the results!
