Center Basin, located in Kings Canyon National Park just off the John Muir Trail, is one the most awe-inspiring spots in the High Sierra. I have visited this area, and camped at Golden Bear Lake many times in my career. My son, Dylan, was involved in a solo, 25-day cross country trip during July 2011. This was especially difficult time to make the trip. The winter of 2010-2011 was a heavy snow year, and more so in the southern Sierra. We re-supplied him midway through his journey, and chose Golden Bear Lake as our meeting place. As always it was a sublime location. It was my first trip with a digital camera to Center Basin, and I made many captures. This might be the best of the trip.
