We spend three days in and around Great Basin NP on our long camping journey in the autumn of 2020. Margaret did two trail runs, and just after this photograph was made, I made the long tortuous bike ride up the trailhead for Wheeler Peak. 3800 feet in a few miles. But just beforehand, on a cold morning a bank of fog rolled up the canyon. The light was so special for maybe thirty minutes or so. The back ridge was gone, and the colors of the Cottonwoods was revealed. There are several different renditions, but this is the best.
