I was haunted by this idea, capturing of lupines and Mount Whitney and Lone Pine Peak, well it seems like forever, maybe since the late nineties. These days, paying for gas to make the trip seems like too much! This spring the chance came to be, my son, Dylan, needed a ride to start skiing from Mount Whitney to Bridgeport, roughly following the John Muir Trail. We had a wonderful sendoff, and then I started back down the highway. I stopped at the usual place for a look, nothing, but then a bit down the highway this amazing lupine field came into focus, right in front of the eastern Sierra. I was amazed, how could I have missed this over all these years? I returned the next morning, and made these captures. Which one do you prefer?
