In February, 2001, Galen Rowell and I were glancing through his old slides when he says “Gees, I did this in 1970! Where is this place?” He recalled it as Farmer’s Pond, just outside of Bishop, and we made plans to visit it. Tragically, Galen and his wife were both killed in a plane crash at the Bishop airport in 2002. I kept to those plans - and by now in 2007, I have made several visits to this pond. This is the best image I have made that does not depend on dawn or dusk light. It is always rewarding to photograph scenes that work in normal light that all people can experience.
