We have lived again in Mammoth Lakes for the past 10 years. I have explored this basin extensively. I must admit that it's truly beautiful. For the longest time I had trouble making good photographs here. The canyon runs north to south with high mountains on each side. After a while, I began to "see" and "feel" clearly. The last few seasons have been very rewarding for me. There are amazing Grand Landscapes like this image, and then soft, beautiful Intimate Landscapes a bit lower down the canyon. And then everywhere there are small close-ups the High Sierra that we all love.
