Margaret and I made a wonderful journey out past Humphrey's Basin in the John Muir Wilderness in the summer of 2014. We had four days of amazing clouds, afternoon weather, and incredible fields of Lupine. Our last night was here at Royce Lakes. I had camped her with Margaret more than thirty years previously; and I must admit that my skills with my camera in those long-ago days were not up to par. I had always dreamed of a trip back to this campsite. It was worth the long hiatus. We had some serious rain that afternoon and evening. This image was made in a afternoon clearing. I made the first ascent of the North Face of Merriam Peak way back in 1976 with my good friend, Bob Harrington who now lives in Bishop.
