I drove past by this spot many times in previous years but it wasn't until the Autumn of 1995 that I realized this is a classic image.  My first attempt that October was unsuccessful.  In the fall of '96, I climbed on top of my truck for a higher vantage point.  Happy with my fall composition, I returned in winter of '98 and the spring of '99 to capture two more images.
