I past by this spot many times in previous years but it wasn't until the spring of 1995 that I realized this is a classic image. My first attempt that spring was unsuccessful. In the fall of '96, I climbed on top of my truck for a higher vantage point. Happy with my fall composition, I returned in early winter of '98 for this image. In the spring of '99, I was able to capture a third image.
