This is the classic view of the Minarets and Mount Ritter from Mammoth Lakes, California. I waited until the perfect afternoon just after a large snowstorm and then loaded two large format cameras, tripods, and all the accessories onto a child's sled and skied to this location along the back of Mammoth Mountain just off Chair 14. As I write this story all these years later (it has been almost 9 years now), I cannot help but step back into the memory of that ski tour. It was a classic blue-bird powder day in January. (Which I had to miss!) The sky was so blue with no wind; snow still on the trees. Not too cold by late the day, just a perfect setting.
