My wife and I flew to New Mexico over a long weekend. It was our first vacation without children in 15 years! On this cloudy rainy Sunday, we drove the High Road to Taos to an area famous in New Mexico for this small authentic Catholic church and a restaurant known for its excellent food and red hot chilies. We went to the 11:00 service, and then I stepped outside to make this image. I liked being in the intimate setting seemingly comprised of local Indians. This particular photograph proved difficult to compose: clouds and sunlight rolled across the sky and arch; the necessary switching between two wide angle lenses made a big difference in the composition; and an empty doorway proved much less likely with the approach of the more crowded noon service.
