This canal is very typical of Venice. I remember being intrigued with the light leading to the far canal and the shapes and colors of the buildings along the sides. Even though the city can be magical, one has to seek out the perfect light, and then be set up and ready beforehand. After I made this image, this particular composition only lasted minutes more. The sun moved to the side, spoiling the amazing bounce light between the buildings, and the days commerce (meaning boats and taxis) had begun. There weren't any more chances that morning to photograph here.
