I was teaching an advanced Lightroom workshop here in my gallery last weekend. Lightroom 5 is an amazing software program; my work has significantly improved this past year. The software works so well, and it's so fast. The skills that my students incorporated into their work in just two day amazed me. After the workshop I returned to this capture made in the fall of 2013. It is a very high-contrast scene, but with large areas of soft shadows, which really do not jump out to a prospective viewer. I started work on this subject last November in Lightroom, made many changes, made many "snapshots". It took months for me to settle on this version; who knows, I may change it again! Even with Lightroom 5, the process from a pre-visualized image in the right side of our brain in the field, and then using the left side of that same brain in Lightroom, to realize a final print can be a long journey.
