I made this photograph recently in Southern California. There are many pier and ocean scenics of the beach areas of the Southland. I had an idea of this image in my "mind's eye" for years. But I wanted a different result from what is seen in galleries around the area. After spending a few years with my Canon, this concept began to take form in the right side of my brains! Some time elapsed before I could arrange my schedule to take advantage of the perfect light. Finally the moment was perfect when I picked up my daughter, Sabrina, at LAX on her Christmas break from Yale. I am quite pleased with the result. This image epitomizes the philosophy of my photography work, "what is important can only seen with the heart, it is invisible to the eye". There are two photographs presented here from the same shooting evening. Which one do you prefer?
